What is required 

Building Staff Solutions (BSS) are seeking applications for the position of an Architect / Architect Technician in Dublin. Our client is a Large Contractor with a history of completing projects to the highest standards, in budget and on time. The goal is to exceed clients expectations and to add value to their business.

What you have to do

  • • Formulate a Brief with the Client / Project Team
  • • Coordinate with various internal Client departments to identify individual requirements
  • • Development Design Options
  • • Undertake surveys / assessment of existing facilities for record keeping / development of new projects
  • • Undertake Design exercises
  • • Provide technical advice in respect of Planning Permission, Fire Safety, Disable Access, Building Regulations,
  • Building Control / BCMS.
  • • Prepare Planning Permissions etc.
  • • Prepare as built information for individual installations i.e. access control, fire safety maps, boundary arrangements
  • • Develop schematics for Space Planning / Alteration works to existing properties
  • • Assist in Conditional Surveys of existing properties and provide advice on remedial works required
  • • Monitor quality control, on and off-site in conjunction with the project team, ensuring that the standard of work
  • and materials supplied by the contractor are as specified and in accordance with the contact information
  • • Review and report deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations,
  • specifications, and other contract documents.
  • • Create and maintain records
  • • Attend site meetings
  • • Maintain a current drawing/specifications Property information filing system
  • • Act as Clients representative on site for mini-projects
  • • Facilitate prompt delivery of as-built records, safety files, digital projects manuals, O & M manuals etc.
  • • Identify snags / defects
  • • Identify and encourage continual improvement and innovation so that best practice is applied
  • • Provide assistance and support to the Design Team in the preparation of formal contract responses to the
  • Contractor
  • • Liaise between the Client, Design and Contractor as appropriate to close out Technical Queries, responses to
  • Contractors Communications etc.
  • • Ensure understanding and application of responsibilities regarding the Environment, Health, Safety, Security and
  • Quality Standards
  • In most instances, an independent Design Team will be appointed to projects and the successful candidate for this role
  • will work with the Project Team as the Clients liaison/representative.
  • The People
  • • Liaise and mentor team members and ensure clarity of roles and clear lines of communication between all
  • stakeholders. Ensure Lafferty values of professionalism, teamwork, commitment, and growth are maintained.
  • • Interact professionally with client staff, proactively identify, and raise issues, ensure updates are provided in
  • line with project requirements.
  • • Take responsibility to understand both sides of any conflict and seek to resolve as soon as possible. Escalate
  • any remaining issues with the appropriate Lafferty person.
  • • As appropriate, liaise with relevant 3rd parties, ensuring all interactions are in line with project requirements.
  • Proactively identify and escalate any concerns.
  • The Process and Technology
  • • Maintain timesheets (weekly) and manage actual time in line with planned resourcing where possible. Keep line
  • manager updated.
  • • Contribute to internal working groups inclusive of the Quality Management System and bring forward ideas for
  • improvement and innovation.
  • The Business
  • • Contribute to internal strategy/working groups as required.
  • • Contribute to Business Development.
  • • Further develop and maintain existing client/third party relationships. Leads to repeat business and
  • recommendations.
  • • Engage in mentoring of other staff members where appropriate.

What you need to have

  • • 15 years relevant experience
  • • Detailed working knowledge of building construction technology and knowledge of mechanical & electrical services.
  • • Relevant Experience
  • • A clear focus on Client satisfaction and successful project delivery
  • • Excellent IT, Report Writing, and Communication Skills.
  • • Ability to manage relationships effectively, identifying and resolving issues at the earliest possible opportunity
