€600m N24 between Waterford to Cahir

Construction Weekly Roundup

We are back with another weekly roundup after a well-rested bank holiday, hope our readers had a refreshing long weekend too. The headlines that made through this week were all about new properties getting green signals, various N24 options being discovered, and new brands expanding in the Irish market.

“Four route options identified for €600m N24 between Waterford and Cahir”

A major upgrade to the N24 connecting Waterford to Cahir in Tipperary has been narrowed down to four options.

The N24 Waterford to Cahir scheme is to be 60km in length, from Junction 10 on the M8, north of Cahir, to the southern terminal of the M9 motorway, in South Kilkenny.

It has a projected cost of €600m to €720m and will either see the existing road upgraded or the construction of a new route, of which three options have been outlined.

There is wiggle room for shifting the final route in case it affects certain properties which do not become subject to a compulsory purchase order (CPO). Photo via n24waterford2cahir.ie

“Blackrock apartment scheme gets green light from council”

Businessman Michael Moran’s Seabren Developments has secured planning permission to construct an apartment scheme on the site of the former Europa Garage site at Newtown Avenue in Blackrock, south Dublin.

Seabren Developments had lodged plans for 91 apartments made up of 49 one-bedroom units, 38 two bedroom units and four three-bedroom units.

However, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has ruled that 50 per cent of the apartments be two-bedroom units, and ordered the merging of some one-bedroom homes.

The council included the condition after finding that the proposal by the developer to have 54 per cent of units as one-bedroom units did not comply with guidelines concerning apartment building.
