A construction firm has tabled plans aimed at completing a half finished housing estate in Ballyjamesduff in county Cavan. Mollmac Ltd was initially given the green light to finalise a residential development known as ‘Woodlands’ at a site on the outer fringes of the east Cavan town in 2018. The proposed development had previously been approved in February 2004 to Monaghan-based firm Seaview Castle Contracts Ltd who later went into receivership.

3. Monthslong construction project to begin this week at Ireland, Ironwood intersection (Source: WNDU.com)
Starting Thursday, temporary lane restrictions and closures will be in place as work begins on the Ireland Road and Ironwood Road Intersection Improvement Project. The project involves a full reconstruction of the pavement, realignment of the curbs and the installation of new traffic signals. Construction will be completed in six phases. Each phase could take up to 21 days to complete.

A popular Cork City pub has been granted planning to extend its premises. Developers Tivoli Fuels (Cork) Limited, which runs Dan Lowrey’s at 13 MacCurtain Street, sought permission from Cork City Council for a change of use of the ground and basement floors at its neighbouring building, 14 MacCurtain Street, from a salon to a public house. Now a vacant site, permission was also sought at Unit 14 for several alterations, including the demolition of a section of walls between the two units to provide access between the buildings at the ground floor and basement levels.
5. Cork City Council plans ‘world-class amenity space’ as part of redevelopment of south docklands (Source: Irish Examiner)
Cork City Council is pressing ahead with ambitious multi-million euro plans to redevelop the south docklands, with its latest project to work on the roads, streets and open spaces in the area to create a “world-class amenity space”. It has gone out to tender for a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the works which will include dedicated cycle and pedestrian infrastructure linking the south-east suburbs to the city centre via Centre Park Road and Monahan Road.
