Ireland needs almost 80,000 more construction workers to address its infrastructural deficit, a 47pc increase from current levels, according to a new report from the Fiscal Council.However if productivity improved in the building sector, less than 20,000 extra workers would do, it says.

Cork County Council is to significantly ratchet up the number of ‘discounted’ affordable homes it will build next year. They are designed for people in the ‘squeezed middle’ who earn too little to afford a property on the open market and too much to qualify for social housing
Gas Networks Ireland has broken ground to mark the commencement of construction for a €32m Central Grid Injection (CGI) facility in Mitchelstown. CGI facilities provide injection points for biomethane production sites that may be located remotely from the existing gas network.The network operator describes the initiative as a transformative step in Ireland’s transition towards renewable energy, enabling the injection of biomethane into the national gas network.
- Country’s first 3D printed housing project to be unveiled in Dundalk (Source: Dundalk Democrat IE)
The three 3D homes at Grange Close in Dundalk will be launched in November and will provide accommodation for three local families on County Louth’s housing list, it has been announced. HTL.tech in collaboration with Louth County Council, Roadstone Ltd, and LMETB, have designed and built three 3-bedroom homes at the site.
