  1. Pharma giant Janssen seeking to expand Ringaskiddy manufacturing site (Source: Irish Examiner)

Pharmaceutical giant Janssen has sought permission to expand its manufacturing site in Ringaskiddy. The company is seeking planning to construct a two-storey extension next to its production building, comprising a floor area of 294 square metres. Janssen Sciences Ireland said the proposed development will facilitate the installation of new equipment to replace end-of-life appliances.

2. Construction started on over 1,100 homes in Limerick so far this year (Source: Limerick Post IE)

That’s according to new figures released by the Department of Housing. The figures stand high above the 796 which had commenced within the same period last year. According to the figures, construction on 154 new homes got underway this past September, by far the highest number of any September in the past 10 years in Limerick.

There are now more workers involved in the construction of buildings than at any time since the financial crash, new figures show. In the third quarter of this year there were 78,600 construction workers, across both the commercial and residential sectors, according to the Central Statistics Office’s labour force survey.

4. Boost for Cavan’s construction sector as plans for 20 new homes is given green light (Source: Irish Independent)

Plans for the development of 20 new homes in Cavan town has been given the seal of approval by local authority planning officials. Locally based firm Latt Properties Ltd were afforded planning permission to carry out the development on a 2.3 acre site at Swellan Upper, on the outskirts of the town.
